Sourced from Morita, a store based in Tokyo that specializes in antique textiles from Japan and Asia, these furoshiki textiles were made in the Taisho period from 1910-1920. Furoshiki textiles were used for wrapping things and were an integral part of Japanese homes. These particular furoshiki textiles are hand stitched using a traditional method called sashiko. The hand stitching was done as reinforcement and decoration. We transformed these textiles into floor cushions using natural wool and cotton fill. The reverse side is made out of Japanese denim.
Textile made in Japan, floor cushions made in Los Angeles, CA.
